Unit 10 Final Blog

 Hi everyone,

1. Based on your reflections, and on a scale of 1 to 10 (ten being optimal well being), where do you rate your A-physical well being, B-spiritual well-being, C-psychological well-being? Why?
Based on my re-reflections, on a scale of 1 -10 for my physical well being, I find my self to be a 7. This means that I could still exercise more and stress less. With my spiritual well being, I find myself to be a 10. As for my psychological well being, I find myself to still be a 4. This definitely needs to improve but I do not know how since the financial status of our economy is continuing to "circle the drain" and it does not look good for our future either.
2. Develop a goal for yourself in each area (physical, spiritual, psychological).
A goal for myself for all of the three areas are to exercise and/or meditate more, continue my belief in God and that he will help me psychologically, because I am a firm believer that he does not put on your plate any more than you can handle.   (Same as Unit 3)
3. What activities or exercise can you implement in your life to assist in moving toward each goal?
The activities and exercise that I can implement into my life to help me achieve each of my goals are to go for long walks, listen to the link that was provided this assignment, meditate, continue to cut corners on our budget to make our money last longer. (Same as Unit 3)
4. Complete the relaxation exercise The Crime of the Century. To hear this exercise, click here. Describe your experience. (What it beneficial? Frustrating? etc.)
I completely and totally loved this part of the exercise. I found it to be completely satisfying and beneficial to me and I am going to try and save it as a favorite so that I can access it daily.

Thank you!

Unit 9 Blog

Hello everyone,

Here is my Unit 9 Project.

The reason I feel that it is important for health and wellness professionals to develop psychologically, spiritually and physically is because if the health care professional isn’t developed psychologically, spiritually and physically that means that they are not capable of teaching health and wellness to their patients and have it be effective.

The areas that I feel that I need to develop to achieve my goals that I have for myself are to become more spiritual.  The reason I feel this way is because I feel that I need to become more in tune with God so that I am living by his word completely and not just partially.

I have assessed my health in each of the domains by looking deep inside myself to see where I am lacking.  I have done this by meditating and actually just sitting by myself and thinking about my life.  On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being my wellness high and 1 being low, I feel that physically and psychologically are rated an 8.  As for me spiritually, I would rate myself as a 3.  As I stated in the paragraph above, that is why I feel that way.

My one goal that I have for myself in each area is for my physical well being, I want to exercise more than 3 times a day and I will make it 6 -7 days a week within the next 90 days.  As for psychological or my mental health well being, my goal is not to let the small things stress me out. I just need to be like a duck and let it roll off my back.  I will be doing this within the next 30 days. As far as my spiritual wellness, I will start reading the Bible more often and start living by God’s word within the next 60 days.

The strategies that I am going to implement to foster growth in each of the following domains; Physical, Psychological, and Spiritual are as follows. For my physical growth, I will be progressively working out 15 minutes a day, twice a day, morning and night.  Once I feel that I can handle that, I will increase the number of days a week that I will be exercising.  As for psychological (mental) exercises, I will continue to meditate, but I will increase it to 5 days a week and then at one point over the next 30 days.  I will also do brain teasers to keep my mind and mental status sharp as a tack.  Finally, for my spiritual growth, I will continue to expand my knowledge by reading, praying and research.

The way that I will keep track of my progress is I will keep a daily log that will tell me at the end of each week how I have been doing on working towards my goals.  Once I reach my goals that I have set for myself, I will be able to keep these going long-term.  If my daily log shows that I am not doing so hot and lacking in an area, I will force myself to work harder, but I doubt that will happen.

Unit 8 Blog

Hello,

Review the exercises and practice sessions you have completed in this course. (Loving Kindness, Subtle mind, Visualization, meditation etc.) Choose two practices that you have determined to be most beneficial. I actually found all of our practice sessions and exercises to be most helpful.  But since I have to choose, the two practices that I have determined to be the most beneficial to me is the visualization and meditation.    How can you implement these practices in your personal life to foster “mental fitness”? I have already implemented meditation and visualization into my life.  I have found that it helps me start my day with a clear mind and it also puts me into a happier place and stress free so I can tackle any day that is thrown my way.  Right now I am meditating only 3 times a week but will eventually get to 7 days a week once summer starts.   Thank you!
